Chateau Calon Segur markets 2 Bordeaux red wines: the 1^st wine is the Grand Vin de Calon Segur, known for its old vintage between 1920 and 1950 which have been particularly successful with a level close to a premier grand cru classé (first great classed growth). This Grand Vin has also been known since 1982 for its particular level of excellence. This first cuvée is characterized by a great depth and density in its colour. It is full-flavoured, rich wine which is particularly silky and smooth due to the extreme quality of its tannins. Additionally, the aptitude for aging of this Grand Vin (12 to 30 years and over) commands respect. The best vintages of Calon Segur  are: 2015, 2014, 2010, 2009, 2005, 2003, 2000, 1996, 1995, 1988, 1982. A second wine called "Marquis de Calon" is produced by the Chateau Calon Segur. Made from the estate's younger vines, it is matured almost like the Grand Vin, with a lower proportion of new barrels and a higher percentage of Merlot. This second wine will be full of fruit notes and should be consumed ideally within 10 years. Since 2006, Calon Segur has restructured its vineyard in order to gradually increase the share of Cabernet Sauvignon to 70%. No one doubts that once the goal will have been reached, the wines of Calon Segur will be closed to excellence.
