The Pierre Overnoy estate, nestled in Pupillin in the Jura region, is a legend in natural winemaking, taken over in 1968 by Pierre Overnoy, a pioneer of sulphur-free wines. Since 2001, Emmanuel Houillon, his spiritual successor, has upheld this philosophy across 5.5 hectares under biodynamic practices. The Vin de Liqueur Lot 091023 cuvée, from the Jura Vin de Liqueur appellation, is a rare wine crafted from Chardonnay and Savagnin, fortified with grape marc before fermentation ends, then aged in barrels. Bottled on 26 September 2019, this lot reflects the estate’s uncompromising approach, with no added sulphites.
On tasting, this wine reveals a deep amber hue and a complex nose blending candied yellow fruits, honey, and gentle spices, with a signature oxidative Jura touch. On the palate, it offers a velvety texture, richness balanced by saline freshness, and a lingering finish with nutty notes. Ideal paired with a fruit dessert or an aged cheese like Comté, the Pierre Overnoy Vin de Liqueur Lot 091023 captivates with its authenticity and elegant power.
