The estate is divided into three entities: the parents’ Domaine Boisson Vadot (3.5 hectares), their son’s Pierre Boisson operation (3.5 hectares) and their daughter’s Anne Boisson operation (1.5 hectares). Most plots are in the Meursault, Auxey Duresses and Bourgogne Aligoté appellations. The family also owns Pinot Noir vines in Pommard and Monthélie. There is something reminiscent of Coche-Dury in the white Burgundies from these three entities, a Coche-Dury-like quality perhaps linked to the friendship between the sons of the two estates.

Domaine Boisson-Vadot (3.5 ha)

Domaine Boisson-Vadot is the historic foundation on which the family's reputation in Meursault was built. Founded by Bernard Boisson and his wife, née Vadot—with the estate's name combining their two family lines—this 3.5-hectare vineyard represents the original legacy, including the first vines planted on the Côte de Beaune in the 1940s and 1950s. Since Bernard retired in 2016 and Anne and Pierre officially took over in 2017, Domaine Boisson-Vadot has continued as a distinct operation, representing the parents' share in the three-way division of the family vineyard. 

Terroir & Vines of Domaine Boisson-Vadot

Domaine Boisson-Vadot's plots are concentrated mainly in Meursault and its immediate surroundings (Auxey-Duresses and Monthélie), with a few red-wine vines in Pommard as well. Bernard Boisson patiently acquired and assembled this vineyard, plot by plot, throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Among the estate's most emblematic sites are the Meursault Les Grands Charrons vines, planted in 1988 and long vinified under the Boisson-Vadot label. Their gently sloping limestone soils, near Les Gouttes d'Or, yield generous, structured wines with aromas of hazelnut, toasted almond, and citrus. Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières, situated between Les Poruzots and Les Charmes, was the flagship of the range: a concentrated, complex fine wine built to age, with impressive tension and minerality.

Winemaking at Domaine Boisson-Vadot

Domaine Boisson-Vadot's approach to viticulture rests on a simple, unwavering principle: let the vines and terroir express themselves without interference. This means plowing the soils, harvesting by hand, allowing spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, aging the wines at length in oak barrels with very little new wood (never more than 30% for the higher-end cuvées, and far less for the village and Bourgogne wines), and bottling without filtration. This non-interventionist approach, inherited from Bernard's practical farming wisdom, is the estate's technical signature.

Pierre Boisson (3.5 ha)

Pierre Boisson is a central figure in Meursault's new generation. Responsible for all the family's winemaking since joining the estate in 2004, he has been the driving force behind the quality of the Boisson venture. His own 3.5-hectare vineyard is the largest of the three operations, and his wine range is also the most diverse, extending from single-plot Bourgogne Blanc wines made from century-old vines to village-level Meursault and Côte de Beaune reds. A longtime friend of Raphaël Coche, son of Jean-François Coche of the legendary Domaine Coche-Dury, Pierre draws on their many exchanges about viticulture and winemaking. This shows in his wines: precise, mineral, and exceptionally pure.

Terroir & Plots of Domaine Pierre Boisson

Pierre Boisson tends the Meursault Les Grands Charrons vines (planted in 1988), which yield one of the estate's most expressive and distinctive cuvées. He also produces a village-level Meursault from the Criots and Perchots sites, inherited from his grandmother, where vines aged 30 to 50 years yield wines that are exemplary for the appellation. His Bourgogne Blanc wines are benchmarks for enthusiasts: since 2018, Pierre has bottled two exceptional plots as separate cuvées—Les Herbeaux (vines planted in 1961) and Murgey de Limozin (vines planted in 1924). The latter comes from century-old vines and offers concentration and depth without equal for a regional-appellation wine. In 2020, he added Les Belles Côtes to the range. 

Winemaking at Domaine Pierre Boisson 

Pierre Boisson champions a style of taut, precise, mineral wines with a characteristic aromatic evolution: toasty and reductive on opening, gradually giving way, with air or years in the cellar, to delicate notes of citrus, white flowers, and limestone minerality. Aging is lengthy—19 to 22 months depending on the cuvée—in French oak barrels, with minimal use of new wood. He favors older barrels to let the terroir speak for itself. Lees stirring, carried out around twenty times a year, adds roundness and volume without ever weighing down the structure. The wines are bottled without filtration, preserving their vitality and exceptional aging potential.

Anne Boisson (1.5 ha)

With 1.5 hectares, Anne Boisson runs the smallest of the three family operations, but certainly one of the most refined. Having joined the estate in 2004, like her brother Pierre, Anne has developed a distinctive signature over successive vintages: wines of remarkable elegance and finesse, more feminine and delicate in expression, with a crystalline minerality that makes them particularly appealing in their youth while giving them excellent aging potential. A meticulous, perfectionist winemaker, she brings a singular perspective to exceptional plots, producing wines that are immediately recognizable.

Terroir & Plots of Domaine Anne Boisson

Anne Boisson oversees particularly well-situated plots in Meursault. She makes Meursault Chevalières (from vines planted in 1982), whose very stony, cool, wind-exposed terroir produces a wine of remarkable minerality and tension, often described as approaching premier cru quality. She also makes Meursault Sous la Velle, from vines planted between 1947 and 1990, in a more slender, refined style, as well as Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières (from vines planted in 1975), the flagship of her range: a fine Burgundy wine built for very long aging. Her Bourgogne Aligoté cuvée, from 65-year-old vines, is considered one of the finest expressions of this grape variety in the Côte de Beaune.

Winemaking at Domaine Anne Boisson

Anne Boisson's style is distinguished by great aromatic delicacy and fine mineral tension. Her Meursault wines never seek power or opulence, but rather purity, precision, and length. As throughout the family estate, viticultural practices are respectful of the land (plowing, hand harvesting, and no chemical inputs), while winemaking favors indigenous yeasts, restrained aging in oak barrels with very little new wood, regular but gentle lees stirring, and bottling without filtration. Her wines are aged for an average of 18 to 20 months.
