Pousse d'Or

The Domaine De La Pousse d’Or works their vines biodynamically, the winemaking process is long and careful, followed by an elevage (maturation) on the lees to obtain the best balance of finesse and richness. Ageing takes place over 18 months in 30% new oak. Rigour and demanding quality are the guiding principles at the Domaine de la Pousse d'Or, which offers with a large range of 5 Grands crus : Bonnes Mares, Clos de la Roche, Corton le Clos du Roi, Corton les Bressandes, Chevalier Montrachet and no less than 11 premiers crus of which 4 are in Chambolle ("Charmes", "Les Amoureuses", "Feusselottes", and "Les Groseilles"), 3 1er cru Monopoles in Volnay ("Clos de la Pousse d’Or", "Clos des 60 Ouvrées" and "Clos d’Audignac"), the Volnay 1er Cru "Les Caillerets", the Pommard 1er Cru "Jarollière", the Santenay 1er Cru "Clos de Tavannes", the Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru "Le Cailleret" and finally, but not in a premier cru, a humble Chambolle Musigny village completes their superb range. Since taking over the Domaine de la Pousse d'Or, Patrick Landanger has heavily invested in the vineyards and the cellar. His son Benoît joined him in 2013 as an assistant winemaker. Their ambitions are informed by a profound respect for the terroir and their biodynamic certification is just one of the many examples. The Volnay 1er Cru "Clos des 60 Ouvrées" is a worthy representative of its appellation in that it combines both finesse and power. The nose cleverly combines red berries and violettes, but with age tends towards more preserved fruits and spices. In the mouth the wine demonstrates scale and a chiseled power that leans upon well integrated tanins according to the vintage and age of the wine. The Corton Grand Cru "Clos du Roi" unfolds a majestic aromatic range of stone fruit, spices and an enchanting nose of black cherries. It offers a deep juice of great amplitude that civilises itself after a few years of keeping to a more elegant frame.
