The history of Domaine Sérafin begins with Stanislaus Sérafin, a Polish immigrant who arrived in France in the 1930s. After overcoming the hardships of the Second World War, including captivity in Germany, Stanislaus settled in Gevrey-Chambertin and acquired his first vineyard plots at modest prices, thus laying the foundations of the domaine in 1947. A self-taught enthusiast, he learned the art of viticulture and built, together with his son Christian, a house and cellar at the foot of the prestigious Premier Cru Les Cazetiers. In the 1980s, Christian modernised the domaine by developing on-site bottling and initiating the export of wines, earning international recognition, notably thanks to the praise of the Parker guide.

Since 1988, when Christian officially took over the running of the domaine, he has enriched the vineyard through the acquisition of plots in Morey-Saint-Denis and Chambolle-Musigny. Today, Karine Sérafin, his daughter, manages the sales and administration of the domaine, while his niece, Frédérique Goulley, oversees viticulture and winemaking.
