The history of Domaine Sérafin begins with Stanislaus Sérafin, a Polish immigrant who arrived in France in the 1930s. After overcoming the hardships of the Second World War, including captivity in Germany, Stanislaus settled in Gevrey-Chambertin and acquired his first vine parcels at modest prices, laying the foundations of the estate in 1947. A self-taught enthusiast, he learned the art of viticulture and built, together with his son Christian, a house and cellar at the foot of the prestigious Premier Cru Les Cazetiers. In the 1980s, Christian modernized the estate by developing on-site bottling and initiating the export of wines, earning international recognition, notably through the praise of the Parker guide.

Since 1988, when Christian officially took over the leadership of the estate, he has enriched the vineyard through the acquisition of parcels in Morey-Saint-Denis and Chambolle-Musigny. Today, Karine Sérafin, his daughter, manages the commercial and administrative aspects of the estate, while his niece, Frédérique Goulley, oversees viticulture and winemaking.
