The wines of Chateau Pavie
Property of Gerard Perse since 1997, prestigious Chateau Pavie has been a St Emilion Premier Grand Cru Classe A since 2012 (it used to be a B status before that year), alongside with the famous Ausone, Angelus, and Cheval Blanc chateaux. Located 35 km East of Bordeaux (Dordogne right bank), Pavie's closest neighbours are Domaines La Gaffeliere, Larcis Ducasse, and Pavie Decesse, among many others. Chateau Pavie's vines are about 43 years old. The vineyards cover 37 ha of three very distinct terroirs: the plateau (limestone), the hillside (clay-limestone) and the bottom of the hillside (sandy-clay). The 58,800 vine stocks/ha are grown according to the sustainable winegrowing principles, and are made up of Merlot (65%), Cabernet franc (25%), and Cabernet sauvignon (10%)...
