The Saint Julien designation (PDO) is located on the left bank of the Gironde between Pauillac in the north and Margaux in the south. A prestigious designation, made up of 80% Crus Classes, it covers approximately 910 ha of homogeneous terroir where gravel soils and subsoils allow excellent drainage of the vine. Saint Julien wines are blended wines: they are made from two French grape varieties emblematic of Bordeaux red wines: Cabernet Sauvignon (the majority in this designation) and Merlot. The result is great red wines with a worldwide fame for their elegance (the designation does not produce white wine). Combining power and finesse, these are long-lasting wines, the greatest wines of Saint Julien can last for several decades. As part of food and wine pairings ,their distinguished profile will go well with lamb or game.
