The wines of the Saint Julien appellation in Bordeaux
The Saint Julien designation (PDO) is located on the left bank of the Gironde between Pauillac in the north and Margaux in the south. A prestigious designation, made up of 80% Crus Classes, it covers approximately 910 ha of homogeneous terroir where gravel soils and subsoils allow excellent drainage of the vine. Saint Julien wines are blended wines: they are made from two French grape varieties emblematic of Bordeaux red wines: Cabernet Sauvignon (the majority in this designation) and Merlot. The result is great red wines with a worldwide fame for their elegance (the designation does not produce white wine).
