To bring out their aromatic complexity to the fullest, it is recommended to decant them one hour before serving.

Among the most iconic cuvées of the estate, the Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru is renowned for its depth and aromatic complexity, while the Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru Les Feusselottes stands out for its delicacy and aromas of red fruits and rose, perfectly illustrating the finesse of this appellation. This deliberately limited production volume, combined with a sustainable viticulture approach that prioritises quality over quantity, explains the rarity of the cuvées on the market. Enthusiasts and wine merchants from around the world compete for each vintage, making these wines highly sought after from the moment they go on sale.

Among the most remarkable vintages from Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg, the years 2015, 2010, and 2009 stand out for their exceptional quality, having benefited from ideal climatic conditions that ensured optimal grape ripening. These vintages are renowned for their great depth and aromatic complexity. Discerning enthusiasts also take a keen interest in the 2017 and 2012 vintages, which produced wines of beautiful purity, reflecting the talent of the winemakers and the unique richness of the Côte de Nuits terroirs.

Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg was founded in 1933 by Jeanne Gibourg and André Mugneret, following their marriage in 1928 and their settling in Vosne-Romanée in 1930. Modest in its origins, the domaine gradually expanded thanks to the passion and tenacity of the family. It was their only son Georges Mugneret, an ophthalmologist in Dijon, who enlarged the family vineyard through successive acquisitions of prestigious plots, notably Clos Vougeot Grand Cru in 1953, followed by Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru in 1977. Today, this wonderful family adventure continues across several generations.

Founded at the beginning of the 20th century, the estate is the result of the union of two winemaking families, the Mugnerets and the Gibourgs. The history of the estate spans several generations, marked by passion and dedication to Burgundian viticulture.

The Mugneret Gibourg estate owns vineyards in some of the most prestigious appellations of Burgundy. It spans 8 hectares and 9 different appellations, among which are Vosne-Romanée, Chambolle-Musigny and Nuits-Saint-Georges. The estate produces many Burgundy premiers crus across these appellations: Chambolle Musigny Premier Cru, Gevrey Chambertin Premier Cru, Nuits Saint Georges Premier Cru… But also Burgundy Grands Crus: Echezeaux, Ruchottes Chambertin, Clos de Vougeot… 

These renowned terroirs allow the estate to produce wines of great finesse and complexity, faithfully reflecting the character of each appellation.

Terroir, Viticulture and Vinification at the Mugneret Gibourg Estate

Terroir plays an essential role in the renown of Mugneret Gibourg wines. The vineyards are cultivated with an environmentally respectful approach, implementing sustainable viticultural practices. The diverse soils of Burgundy, rich in limestone and clay, contribute to the complexity of the wines.

Viticulture is conducted with precision to ensure a harvest of grapes at optimal ripeness. It should be noted that today, Marie-Christine and Marie-Andrée Mugneret show the utmost respect for Pinot Noir, the grape variety they have the privilege of vinifying. They take great care to preserve all the finesse, fruit and freshness of Pinot Noir! The harvests, often carried out by hand, allow for a rigorous selection of bunches. With regard to vinification, the estate favours gentle and classical methods, with natural fermentation and moderate use of oak during barrel ageing. This harmony between Pinot Noir and terroir contributes to the richness and diversity of the magnificent Burgundian vineyard. 

The wines of the Mugneret Gibourg estate and their profile

The wines of the Mugneret Gibourg estate are distinguished by their elegance, their finesse and their ability to fully express the terroir from which they come. The Pinot Noirs produced in Vosne-Romanée and in the other appellations of the estate reveal aromas of red fruits, delicate tannins and a well-balanced structure, offering wines of great delicacy.

Here are the main cuvées and their key characteristics: 

Village (Burgundy)

The vines grow on silty soil and produce wines of a deep red, very pleasantly fresh and fruity on the palate, with a silky structure: perfectly reflecting the precision of Pinot Noir.

Vosne Romanée

The plots are planted on clay-limestone soils. The wines have a fruity nose, dotted with blackberry and blueberry as well as mocha. On the palate, aromas of cherry, strawberry and undergrowth dominate, for a rich and ample palate with a beautiful aromatic persistence.

Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru Feusselottes

A beautiful garnet colour characterises this premier cru. On the nose, floral notes intertwine with spicy ones. A generous and complex palate follows, with flavours of black cherries and violets, all enhanced by a hint of truffle for a divine finish.

Ruchottes Chambertin

The vines of this plot grow on a lean and very stony soil. The wine, cherry red in colour, is crystal clear! A fine nose of forest fruits and undergrowth hints at spiced notes. The tannins are noble and silky, the sensation is shared between the generosity, the richness and the perfect balance of this grand cru.

Clos de Vougeot

The vines of this plot have deep roots thanks to a very stony soil poor in clay. On the nose, aromas of flowers and red fruits emerge around woody scents. An ample, rich and silky palate forms a perfect balance and a lovely persistence in this Grand Cru.

Echezeaux

An elegant nose of raspberry and very ripe cherry with a touch of spice. On the palate, elegance persists, lace-like… To be kept in the cellar for a few years…

Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru aux Vignes Rondes

On a rich and stony soil at depth, the vines of this plot produce this deep red cuvée. A nose of cherry and toasted hazelnut precedes a lively, long and well-balanced palate with velvety tannins. Notes of mocha on the finish for a majestic length.

Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru les Chaignots

Fruity and floral notes on the nose leading to a round and powerful palate with a superb aromatic palette. Remarkable length and an elegance worthy of the greatest Pinot Noirs.
