The TOP winemakers of Corsica

The Abbatucci family arrived in Corsica in the 15th century and built this estate. At that time, the bottles produced were intended for family or local consumption. The vineyard expanded in the 1960s under the impetus of one of the descendants, Antoine Abbatucci, who proved to be a visionary by preserving these indigenous grape varieties. Today, the estate is run by his son, Jean-Charles, who continues to advance the estate by producing wines of quality and extreme finesse. The vineyard extends over 20 hectares of vines. Harvesting is done by hand and since the year 2000 the vines have been tended biodynamically. Domaine Abbatucci produces approximately 100,000 bottles per year. Among these wines, the Abbatucci Ministre Impérial cuvée is made from a blend of Sciaccarello, Nielluccio, Morescola, Morescono, Montanaccia, Carcajolo Nero and Aléatico. This red wine has a deep cherry-black robe with ruby highlights. The nose is powerful with notes of redcurrant and blackcurrant. On the palate, the tannins are sublime with a beautiful long finish and a very complex aromatic persistence. Also in red, the Abbatucci Monte Bianco cuvée, a single-varietal wine from Sciaccarello, is characterised by a deep red colour and a nose of tangy fruit aromas. The palate is lightly oaked with a mineral quality characteristic of the estate. The palate has beautiful tannins full of complexity. In white, the Barbarossa cuvée reveals unusual, smoky and lightly peaty aromas.
