Gruaud Larose's first wine has been one of the most structured and low to evolve Saint Julien wines for a long time; it became more supple and a very distinguished from the early 1990s vintages. Today, Gruaud Larose's wine is less austere and tannic in his youth than it used to be. In their best vintages, the prestige cuvee is intense, rich and powerful, but its mouth-filling structure is full of fine and silky tannins that bring length to the wine's flavours. It has a great ageing potential: Gruaud Larose's bottles can be kept in the cellar for about 10 years. Here are Gruaud Larose's best vintages: 2015, 2010, 2009, 2005, 2000, 1990, 1986, 1982, 1961... The estate's second wine, “Les Sargets de Gruaud Larose”, displays a softer and fruitier profile and doesn't need to be kept that long in the cellar to be appreciated. As many second wines, this is a great introduction to Chateau Gruaud Larose's Great Wine, for a much lower price.
