History of Domaine des Murmures

The story of Domaine des Murmures begins with Emmanuel Lançon's love at first sight for the singular terroirs of Jura. Originally from Provence, he was drawn to the viticultural richness of this region, settled there, and initially collaborated with local winemakers, participating in vineyard work and vinification. In 2012, he launched his own production with very limited quantities, in absolute respect of nature. Since then, Domaine des Murmures has established itself as a discreet yet cult reference among Jura wine enthusiasts. This human and winemaking adventure is based on a simple philosophy: achieving maximum expression with minimum intervention, for wines that tell the story of the place and the vintage.

Terroirs and Vineyards of Domaine des Murmures

Domaine des Murmures extends over approximately 0.8 hectares of old low-yielding vines, planted with Jura's emblematic grape varieties: Chardonnay and Savagnin for whites, Poulsard and Trousseau for reds. These parcels benefit from Jura's continental climate, with its harsh winters and hot summers, which give the grapes perfect ripeness and vibrant acidity. The region's typical soils, rich in marl and limestone, impart the characteristic minerality to the wines. Emmanuel Lançon cultivates with deep respect for nature, favoring maximum expression of the terroir without artifice. Harvests are carried out exclusively by hand, guaranteeing rigorous selection of the finest bunches for each cuvée.

Vinifications at Domaine des Murmures

At Domaine des Murmures, vinification is the art of minimal intervention. The grapes, harvested manually, are vinified with indigenous yeasts, without adding sulfur or nitrogen. No clarification or filtration is performed before bottling, thus preserving all the aromatic richness and natural texture of the wines. Aging takes place in old oak barrels, allowing gentle oxygenation and perfect integration of tannins. This biodynamic and natural approach, inspired by the desire to faithfully reflect the terroir, gives birth to pure, intense wines with great drinkability. The result: living cuvées that evolve magnificently in the cellar.

The Cuvées of Domaine des Murmures

Domaine des Murmures offers a limited range of single-varietal cuvées, each revealing the quintessence of Jura through parcel-based and artisanal vinification.

Chardonnay: This dry and mineral white captivates with its frankness and vivacity. From old vines, it reveals notes of fresh citrus, green apple, and white flowers, supported by beautiful saline tension. On the palate, it is precise, taut, and of great purity, with a long, chalky finish.

Savagnin: The estate's emblematic cuvée, aged extensively in topped-up barrels (approximately 36 months), offers a refined and luminous aromatic palette. On the nose, aromas of fresh almond, hazelnut, and dried flowers; on the palate, brilliant saline freshness balanced by a creamy, mineral texture. Domaine des Murmures' Savagnin is vibrant, precise, and exceptionally long.

Poulsard: This light and fruity red is distinguished by its pale color and airy character. It exudes notes of crisp red fruits (cherry, raspberry), flowers, and sweet spices. On the palate, it is supple, juicy, and remarkably delicate, with silky tannins and a fresh finish. Domaine des Murmures' Poulsard is the ultimate pleasure wine.

Trousseau: More structured than Poulsard, this powerful and elegant red reveals the depth of the Jura grape variety. Aromas of black fruits (blackberry, blackcurrant), licorice, and damp earth; full-bodied palate with fine tannins and pronounced minerality. Domaine des Murmures' Trousseau offers excellent aging potential and pairs beautifully with red meats or game. A rare and sought-after cuvée that expresses all the contained power of the Jura terroir.
