History of Domaine des Murmures

The story of Domaine des Murmures begins with a coup de cœur: Emmanuel Lançon, originally from Provence, fell in love with the singular terroirs of the Jura. Drawn by the viticultural richness of this region, he settled there and first collaborated with local winemakers, taking part in vineyard work and winemaking. In 2012, he launched his own production, in very limited quantities, with absolute respect for nature. Since then, Domaine des Murmures has established itself as a discreet yet cult reference among lovers of Jura wines. This human and winemaking adventure rests on a simple philosophy: achieving maximum expression with minimum intervention, for wines that tell the story of a place and a vintage.

Terroirs and Vines of Domaine des Murmures

Domaine des Murmures extends over approximately 0.8 hectares of old, low-yielding vines planted with the emblematic grape varieties of the Jura: Chardonnay and Savagnin for the whites, Poulsard and Trousseau for the reds. These parcels benefit from the Jura's continental climate, with its harsh winters and warm summers, which give the grapes perfect ripeness and vibrant acidity. The region's typical soils, rich in marl and limestone, lend that characteristic minerality to the wines. Emmanuel Lançon cultivates with a profound respect for nature, encouraging maximum terroir expression without artifice. Harvests are carried out exclusively by hand, ensuring rigorous selection of the finest clusters for each cuvée.

Winemaking at Domaine des Murmures

At Domaine des Murmures, winemaking is the art of minimal intervention. The grapes, harvested by hand, are vinified with indigenous yeasts, without the addition of sulphur or nitrogen. No fining or filtration is carried out before bottling, thus preserving the full aromatic richness and natural texture of the wines. The wines are aged in old oak barrels, allowing gentle oxygenation and perfect integration of the tannins. This biodynamic and natural approach, inspired by the desire to faithfully reflect the terroir, gives rise to pure, intense wines of great drinkability. The result: living cuvées that evolve magnificently in the cellar.

The cuvées of Domaine des Murmures

Domaine des Murmures offers a limited range of single-varietal cuvées, each revealing the quintessence of the Jura through parcel-by-parcel, artisanal winemaking.

Chardonnay: This dry, mineral white captivates with its directness and vivacity. From old vines, it reveals notes of fresh citrus, green apple and white flowers, underpinned by a beautiful saline tension. On the palate, it is precise, taut and of great purity, with a long, chalky finish.

Savagnin: The flagship cuvée of the domaine, aged at length in a topped-up barrel (approximately 36 months), offers a refined and luminous aromatic palette. On the nose, aromas of fresh almond, hazelnut and dried flowers; on the palate, a brilliant saline freshness balanced by a creamy, mineral texture. The Savagnin from Domaine des Murmures is vibrant, precise and of exceptional length.

Poulsard: This light and fruity red stands out for its pale colour and airy character. It exhales notes of crunchy red fruits (cherry, raspberry), flowers and soft spices. On the palate, it is supple, juicy and remarkably fine, with silky tannins and a fresh finish. The Poulsard from Domaine des Murmures is the ultimate pleasure wine.

Trousseau: More structured than the Poulsard, this powerful and elegant red reveals the depth of this Jurassian grape variety. Aromas of dark fruits (blackberry, blackcurrant), liquorice and damp earth; a fleshy palate with fine tannins and assertive minerality. The Trousseau from Domaine des Murmures offers excellent ageing potential and pairs wonderfully with red meats or game. A rare and sought-after cuvée that expresses the full, restrained power of the Jurassian terroir.
