One of the great winemakers of Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Pierre Usseglio, of Italian origin, came to work in Châteauneuf-du-Pape between the two wars. He fell in love with the region and set up on his own in 1948, taking over 8 hectares. His sons have since taken over and developed the estate to bring it to 24 hectares. From these, they produce honest and generous wines that can be enjoyed in their youth. Their prices have remained reasonable given the price surges of the last five years. Their cuvée Mon Aïeul, however, stands apart from the rest of the production. Indeed, denser and with more substance, it requires at least a good ten years to develop and reveal the best of its terroir.
