History of Château Potensac

Château Potensac is far more than a wine estate; it is the testament of a heritage passed down in a unique manner within the Delon family, from one generation to the next, and above all from mother to daughter. Since time immemorial, the lands of Potensac have been entrusted to the women of the family, a rare and precious legacy. Jean-Hubert Delon, the current owner, inherited it from his paternal grandmother, Georgette Liquard, thereby perpetuating a feminine and family tradition that lends the estate a profoundly human and historical dimension.

Founded in the mid-1800s, Château Potensac established itself on the heights of the commune of Ordonnac, in the northern Médoc. Winemaking at Château Potensac

Subsequently, aging in French oak barrels, a significant portion of which comes from Clos du Marquis, lasts between 14 and 16 months. This maturation in barrels, with one third new wood, imparts remarkable depth and aromatic complexity to the wines, combining spiced and oaky notes with the original fruity aromas.

The technical team overseeing the winemaking at Château Potensac is the same as the one responsible for the prestigious domaine de Léoville Las Cases and Clos du Marquis.
