Located in the northern part of the Côte Rôtie appellation, in the northern Rhône, Domaine Clusel Roch has existed since the 1930s. The first Syrah plots of the estate were planted by Baptiste Clusel. At that time, the domaine did not enjoy its current reputation. Indeed, Baptiste Clusel grew mostly vegetables and fruit trees and sold his wine through négociant trade. From the 1950s onwards, his son René Clusel took over the estate with his wife Joséphine, but had no particular interest in the vine. It was not until the 1980s that the estate's wine production evolved when it was taken over by Gilbert Clusel (passionate about viticulture) and his wife Brigitte Roch (who also gave the domaine its name). It was at this time that Gilbert Clusel produced his first wine with his father. In 1990, the vineyard covered 3 hectares. Today, Brigitte and Gilbert work alongside their son Guillaume, who joined the domaine in 2009. The family estate spans 13 hectares of vines across 3 major appellations of the Rhône: Ampuis (AOC Côte-Rôtie), Condrieu (AOC Condrieu) and more recently Millery (AOC Coteau du Lyonnais), with a majority of red grape varieties. The domaine produces approximately 30,000 bottles per year. The grapes are harvested by hand and the estate has been certified organic since 2002 and biodynamic since 1984.

Among the wines from Domaine Clusel Roch, the Côte-Rôtie cuvée "Les Grandes Places" is a highly structured wine with a complex nose of dark fruits, spices, undergrowth and truffle that improves with age (allow around ten years of ageing). The Côte-Rôtie cuvée "Classique" requires no particular ageing and can be enjoyed in the year following bottling. It is a wine of great finesse and beautiful elegance. The nose is rather complex, with notes of dark fruits, spices and violet. At their peak, the wines express aromas of undergrowth and toasted tobacco. In the Condrieu appellation, the Verchery cuvée expresses a fine minerality. This wine is highly aromatic with notes of apricot and peach, very full-bodied and low in acidity.
