The Muscadet appellation designates a dry white wine produced in the Loire Valley, near Nantes, from the Melon de Bourgogne grape variety. Renowned for its freshness and minerality, it is divided into three main appellations: Muscadet, Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine and Muscadet Côtes-de-Grandlieu, with variations such as Muscadet sur lie, aged on its lees for complex aromas. The vineyard extends over approximately 8,000 hectares, on varied soils (schist, granite, gneiss), imparting notes of citrus, apple and a saline touch. With an annual production of approximately 400,000 hectoliters, this light and lively wine, shaped by an oceanic climate, is ideal with seafood. Discover its characteristics, its terroir and its food and wine pairings!
