Savennieres

One of the jewels of the Loire hills, which over 340 ha, produces one of the greatest French white wines. Made from the Chenin grape, its white wines are mainly dry, but with a lot of fullness and fat, and some sweet wines are produced in exceptional vintages such as 1959, 1971, 1985, 1989, 1990, 2001, 2002, 2005, or the stunning 1928, 1929 and 1976. A new generation of winegrowers (Damien Laureau, Eric Morgat, among others) settled in Savennieres at the end of the 90s, and a real revolution in terms of vineyard and cellar practices began to modify the reputation of austerity of this designation, and allows you to taste excellent wines from their earliest youth. Two sub-designation exist: Savennieres-Coulee de Serrant, a single estate of 7 ha, managed biodynamically by the Joly family, and Savennieres-La Roche aux Moines, on 33 ha.
