All wines from the Savennières appellation in the Loire

One of the jewels of the Loire hillsides, this appellation spans 340 hectares and produces one of France’s greatest white wines. Made from Chenin Blanc, its white wines are predominantly dry but have plenty of body and richness. Some sweet wines are also produced in exceptional vintages such as 1959, 1971, 1985, 1989, 1990, 2001, 2002 and 2005, as well as 1928, 1929 and 1976, which yielded magnificent vintages. A new generation of winemakers, including Damien Laureau and Eric Morgat, arrived in Savennières in the late 1990s. A genuine revolution in vineyard and cellar practices began to change the appellation’s reputation for austerity, making it possible to enjoy excellent wines even in their youth. There are two sub-appellations: Savennières-Coulée de Serrant, a single seven-hectare estate farmed biodynamically by the Joly family, and Savennières-La Roche aux Moines, covering 33 hectares.
