Richard Leroy is one of the most captivating figures in the Loire Valley wine world. Nothing predestined him to viticulture: after studying economics, he worked in banking while running an oenology club in Paris. It was a deep passion for great white wine that led him to leave everything behind. In 1996, he settled with his wife Sophie in Rablay-sur-Layon, purchasing two hectares of chenin from a farming couple who produced grapes for the cooperative cellar. A rigorous self-taught winemaker, he learned his craft in the field and has today become one of the absolute references for dry chenin blanc in the Loire.
