Despite the great diversity of terroirs, there are only nine appellations in Corsica: Ajaccio, Patrimonio, Vin de Corse, Muscat du Cap Corse, Vin de Corse-Porto Vecchio, Vin de Corse-Figari, Vin de Corse-Sartène, Vin de Corse-Calvi and Vin de Corse-Coteaux du Cap Corse.
Patrimonio wines are remarkably distinctive. Produced from Nielluccio grapes only, the wines are aged for at least two years in oak barrels, with careful maturation. These conditions give Patrimonio wines their distinctive aromas of red fruit, spices and maquis. Once the ageing process is complete, the wine is bottled, ready to be enjoyed or stored for a long time. If you're looking for long-keeping wines, Patrimonio wines will stand the test of time, just like Figari wines for your dessert wines.
Corsican wines are booming these days, and the names of some renowned winemakers are turning heads: Antoine Arena, Yves Leccia, Domaine Comte Abbatucci, Clos Canarelli, Domaine de Vaccelli: Antoine Arena, Yves Leccia, Domaine Comte Abbatucci, Clos Canarelli, Domaine de Vaccelli... These unmissable names are purists, striving for the purest expression of their terroir, in particular by cultivating their vines organically/biodynamically. Corsican winegrowers are among the most ORGANIC in France, working in a collective spirit.
