History of Domaine Jérémy Recchione

The history of Domaine Jérémy Recchione begins in 2010, when Jérémy, then a young enthusiast, arrived in Burgundy. He began his apprenticeship at Domaine Pierre Naigeon in Gevrey-Chambertin, where he discovered the richness of Burgundy terroirs and the subtlety of climats. This first experience marked a turning point, awakening in him an unwavering passion for wine. In 2012, a stay in Australia allowed him to explore other grape varieties such as Syrah, Viognier and Grenache, enriching his expertise. Back in Côte de Nuits in 2013, he began vinifying grapes purchased from winemaker friends, while perfecting his techniques with mentors like Mark Haisma.

In 2019, Jérémy took a decisive step by acquiring his first parcel, an Aligoté vineyard named "Les Cerisiers" in Messanges, in the Hautes-Côtes-de-Nuits. This moment marked the official birth of Domaine Jérémy Recchione, a project driven by a clear vision: to respect nature and sublimate the terroir through pure and expressive wines. Today, accompanied by his wife Julie, Jérémy continues to make his estate shine, which produces approximately 15,000 bottles per year, including Burgundy cuvées and some bold Italian creations, reflecting his family heritage.

Terroirs and Vineyards of Domaine Jérémy Recchione

Domaine Jérémy Recchione extends over approximately 4 hectares, mainly in the prestigious appellations of the Côte de Nuits and Hautes-Côtes-de-Nuits. The clay-limestone soils, sometimes mixed with white marls or entroques limestone, give the wines unique minerality and complexity. The emblematic parcel "Les Cerisiers", dedicated to Aligoté, is cultivated by hand and with horses, a rare practice that testifies to the estate's commitment to respectful viticulture. Other prestigious climats, such as the 1er Cru "En Caradeux" in Pernand-Vergelesses, the 1er Cru "Clos Reyssier" in Pouilly-Fuissé or "Les Lavières" in Savigny-lès-Beaune, enrich the estate's palette of terroirs.

Jérémy complements his work by purchasing grapes from trusted winegrowers, notably for his cuvées in Burgundy and Italian Piedmont. This négociant activity allows him to produce wines in micro-quantities, often limited to one or two barrels per cuvée, reinforcing their exclusivity. Each parcel is worked with extreme rigor, with manual harvests in small 5 kg crates to preserve the integrity of the grapes, followed by meticulous sorting in the vineyard and winery.

Vinifications at Domaine Jérémy Recchione

Jérémy Recchione's vinification philosophy is based on absolute respect for nature and terroir. The wines are crafted with indigenous yeasts, without adding sugar, acid or other inputs. The use of sulfur is reduced to a minimum, or totally absent for certain cuvées, such as the Pinot Noir from Fixin and Gevrey-Chambertin. The harvests, carried out early in the morning, are followed by a passage in a cold room to preserve the freshness of the grapes, then cold pre-fermentation maceration for the reds, which intensifies the fruity aromas.

The reds, often vinified in whole clusters (up to 100% for certain cuvées like Côte de Nuits Villages "Les Essarts"), undergo fermentation in stainless steel tanks before aging in oak barrels for 10 to 12 months. The whites, meanwhile, are frequently aged in Clayver ceramics or demi-muids, an approach that provides silky texture and beautiful minerality. This natural vinification, combined with artisanal work, guarantees vibrant, pure wines faithful to their terroir, perfect for enthusiasts wishing to purchase exceptional natural wines.
