The rarity of Richard Leroy's wines is explained by radical viticultural choices. Yields are low, maturities are perfectly controlled, and vinifications are carried out without artifice, using indigenous yeasts, with long ageing. The estate covers only a few hectares, which mechanically limits the volume produced. To this confidential production was added, from 2011 onwards, a sudden worldwide notoriety: the publication of the graphic novel "Les Ignorants" by Étienne Davodeau helped bring the estate to the attention of enthusiasts around the world, causing demand to explode far beyond production capacity.
