What is the difference between the grand vin and the second wine of Château Gruaud Larose?
The grand vin of Château Gruaud Larose represents the most rigorous selection of the finest plots and most accomplished vats of the estate. The second wine, called Le Sarget de Gruaud Larose, is produced from younger vines or lots that do not reach the level of excellence required for the grand vin. It nonetheless offers a fine introduction to the château's style: more approachable in its youth, less structured, it allows you to discover the aromatic characteristics and Saint-Julien typicity that are characteristic of Gruaud Larose, at a more affordable price and with an earlier drinking window.
