1949 Vintage
The 1949 vintage is a great post-war vintage in France, marked by record drought and climatic hazards, but crowned with success thanks to a hot summer, life-saving storms in September, and an ideal autumn. In Bordeaux, the reds from the right bank such as Cheval Blanc or Latour offer elegance and structure, while Sauternes such as Yquem shine with their opulence. In Burgundy, despite reduced yields, it is a legendary vintage for rich reds and superb whites. In the Rhône, Hermitage and Châteauneuf-du-Pape stand out for their depth and longevity. In Champagne, cuvées combine finesse and freshness, making 1949 an iconic and timeless vintage.
