The history of Vieux Château Certan is one of the oldest in Pomerol, with traces of viticultural activity dating back to the 17th century. The estate was long considered the absolute benchmark of the appellation before Pétrus established itself in the 20th century. It was in 1924 that the Belgian Thienpont family acquired the estate, marking the beginning of a family adventure passed down from generation to generation. Today, it is Alexandre Thienpont who perpetuates this heritage with rigour and passion, ensuring the unique identity of the estate is maintained while refining each vintage with ever-increasing exigence.
