La Mission Haut-Brion is one of the Bordeaux wines with the longest ageing potential. In great years, the wine can develop serenely over 30 to 50 years, or even longer. Iconic vintages such as 1955, 1961, 1982 and 2000 have demonstrated a rare ability to transform over time, gaining in complexity, finesse and length as the tannins mellow. For optimal tasting, it is advisable to wait at least 10 to 15 years after the harvest in good years, and to store the bottles under ideal conditions: a temperature-controlled cellar at 12–14°C, stable humidity, away from light and vibrations.
