Picnic Tasting

TASTING REPORT

The tasting report by Didier Frayssou of a country picnic under this scorching sun:

Gerard Boulay Sancerre Les Mont Damnés 2008: a very fresh and very young wine. Still closed but nice.

Trimbach Riesling Frédéric Emile 1997 : slightly corked. The palate is smoky with volume, a tense finish and some notes of evolution... A pity that the cork prevents judging it properly.

Klein Constantia Chardonnay 1996 : the nose is buttery and ripe. A very beautiful attack, no oxidation but a soft and short wine on the palate.

Clos des Lambrays 2008: peppery notes and black fruits. A bit closed at first, the acidity is not separated as on many 2008s. This wine evolves well with aeration but still needs 5 to 10 years

Michel Magnien Clos de la Roche 2001: a very concentrated and little evolved wine. The tannins are silky. One can hope for at least another 10 years of aging potential. A very well-made wine but one that conveys few emotions.

Henri Bonneau Châteauneuf du Pape 2004: the nose is clean, cooked fruits, notes of leather, some dried flowers... The palate is fresher, the tannins are silky, the alcohol is well integrated. A very beautiful wine.

Clos du Mont Olivet Châteauneuf du Pape 1990: a simple wine but typical of the appellation. Among other things, we find notes of leather and strawberry jam. A bottle ready to drink.

Latour à Pomerol 1989: notes of truffles and stewed fruits. Beautiful freshness on the palate, medium-bodied. A beautiful delicate Pomerol.

Ca Marcanda 2001 Gaja (Tuscany): black fruits and graphite. An elegant wine, little evolved, without excess alcohol. Good

Arbbin Mondeuse Trosset 2012 Harmonie: a fruity wine with "juice", acidity, polished tannins and concentration in the closing phase.

Pinnacle Cidre de Glace Pétillant: aromas of baked apples and quince with beautiful acidity.

Yquem 1999: The nose is vanilla-scented, with beautiful acidity. An airy wine... Very good as usual!

Carbonnieux 2005 white: notes of coconut and pineapple. A bit exotic but nice.
