The Voge estate is based in Cornas and is one of the most renowned estates in the appellation. It was founded by Henri Voge (Alain's grandfather); Alain's father having passed away prematurely, Alain took over in 1965 and developed the estate bottling of its wines (which had until then been sold to négociants). The estate has a fine heritage of vineyards, most often situated on hillside slopes, covering 13 hectares, including 7 hectares of red (100% Syrah) in Cornas, 1 hectare in St Joseph, and 5 hectares of white 100% Marsanne located in the AOC St Peray. The biodynamic conversion of the estate began in 2006 and was fully completed in 2013.
With a significant potential from old vines, the estate benefits from quality grapes to produce a variety of cuvées that make up its extensive range. In the Cornas and Saint Péray AOC, the Harmony, Ongrie, and Fleur de Crussol cuvées are offered, the latter being the most accomplished (70-year-old vines). A cuvée called Les Bulles d'Alain even produces a 100% Marsanne sparkling St Peray in brut nature, traditional method. In St Joseph, since 2015, the cuvée "Les Vinsonnes" has been renamed "Les Côtes", which is the name of the terroir located in the commune of Mauves. In the Cornas AOC, the cuvées "Les Chailles", "Les Vieilles Vignes", and "Les Vieilles Fontaines" make up the range. "Les Chailles", whose vines are situated at the foot of the slope on slightly more fertile soils, already offers a fine glimpse of the estate's expertise in the Cornas AOC. The "Vieilles Vignes" cuvée (60 years old) is more concentrated and comes from a mid-slope sector, offering a true definition of a Cornas of fine consistency, accompanied by notes of spice and chocolate. "Les Vieilles Fontaines", a cuvée created in 1988, comes from a purely granitic terroir on the lieu-dit "La Fontaine", from the oldest vines (80 years old). It is produced only in the very best years (2009, 2010, 2012, 2015) and represents the archetype of a concentrated and voluptuous Cornas that impresses with its power and its capacity to age. It should be noted that the 2010 vintage was rated 100/100 by Robert Parker… All the estate's wines are highly recommended and international critics have consecrated the domaine's wines, which has had a quite notable effect on prices (particularly the "Vieilles Fontaines" cuvée).
