Located in the extreme south of Corsica, on the spectacular heights of Bonifacio, Domaine Zuria embodies the revival of a historic vineyard, once decimated by phylloxera. This family estate, created by Christian, Nadine and their son Yvan Zuria, combines tradition, innovation and environmental respect to produce exceptional wines. Certified organic and transitioning to biodynamics, Domaine Zuria showcases native Corsican grape varieties, such as sciaccarellu and vermentinu, on a unique limestone terroir.
The adventure of Domaine Zuria begins in 2010, driven by the bold vision of the Zuria family, heir to a long agricultural tradition on the lands of Bonifacio. Dominique Zuria, nicknamed the last "Pialincu," once worked these limestone lands on the back of a donkey. It is on this family property, rich with 150 years of history, that Christian and Nadine, accompanied by their son Yvan, decide to bring back to life a vineyard forgotten since the phylloxera crisis of the 19th century. In collaboration with Yves Canarelli, an emblematic figure of Corsican viticulture, they clear the garrigue and replant endemic grape varieties. Their first harvest, in 2016, marks the emergence of a pioneering estate, hailed from its first vintage by La Revue du Vin de France as a major discovery. Today, Domaine Zuria continues to write a major chapter in the island's wine history, with a clear ambition: to sublimate the terroir of Bonifacio through wines with strong identity.
Domaine Zuria extends over 16 hectares, spread across five plots with unique characteristics: Stintinu (Maora, 3 ha), Musella (2 ha), Spinella (6 ha), Santa Giulia (2 ha) and Vallée Longa (3 ha). Nestled on the limestone plateau of Bonifacio, swept by sea winds, these lands offer a rare clay-limestone terroir in Corsica, giving the wines an incomparable minerality and freshness. The flagship grape varieties, sciaccarellu for reds and rosés, and vermentinu for whites, are complemented by endemic varieties such as morescone, biancu gentile, genovese, minustellu, carcaghjolu neru and niellucciu. Cultivated using organic farming methods, with a gradual conversion to biodynamics, the vines of Domaine Zuria draw their strength from poor soils and an arid climate, producing concentrated grapes and limited yields (30 hl/ha). This exceptional terroir, overlooking the Mediterranean, gives the wines a unique elegance and energy.
Domaine Zuria adopts a minimalist and precise approach in the cellar, aiming to reveal the purity of each plot. The harvests, exclusively manual, guarantee a rigorous selection of grapes. The gravity-fed winery, buried 4 meters underground, offers optimal conditions for vinification and aging. Since 2021, a new state-of-the-art cellar at the entrance to Bonifacio allows for even more meticulous work. Vinification methods vary according to the cuvées: stainless steel tanks to preserve the freshness of Aria wines, concrete eggs to bring roundness and complexity, and oak casks for ambitious aging, as for the Stintinu and Crocci cuvées. This diversity of techniques enhances the singularity of the terroirs and grape varieties, producing balanced, expressive wines that are true to the identity of Bonifacio.
Domaine Zuria offers a complete range of red, white and rosé wines, each reflecting the richness of its terroir and the mastery of its vinification. Here are the cuvées:
