Château Sociando-Mallet is renowned for being a wine built for ageing, with one of the most impressive cellaring potentials in the Médoc outside the official classification. Great vintages such as 1982, 1989, 1990 and 2000 show a remarkable capacity to evolve over 20 to 30 years, or even longer. With time, the wine gains in aromatic complexity, developing notes of truffle, leather, undergrowth and soft spices, while its tannins gradually meld to offer a texture of great silkiness. A patience of 8 to 15 years after the harvest is generally recommended for powerful vintages.
