What is the difference between the grand vin of Château Margaux and the Pavillon Rouge?

Château Margaux produces two distinct red wines: the grand vin, simply called Château Margaux, and its second wine, the Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux. The grand vin is the result of a rigorous selection of the finest plots and the finest vats, aimed at expressing the pinnacle of the estate's terroir. The Pavillon Rouge, on the other hand, offers a beautiful entry point into the world of the property, with a more accessible profile and a shorter ageing potential, while retaining the characteristic elegance of the Margaux appellation.
