The Guffens-Heynen estate is the result of an extraordinary story. It was in the mid-1970s that Maine and Jean-Marie Guffens-Heynen left their native Flanders to settle in Burgundy, with the aim of learning French and discovering wine. This one-year stay would change the course of their lives: in 1979, they acquired their first vineyard plots on the heights of Pierreclos, giving birth to the Guffens-Heynen estate. Self-taught enthusiasts, they made up for their initial inexperience with an artistic sensibility and an instinctive approach to the vine that would become their trademark.
