2 red wine cuvées are produced by Château Meyney: the Fine Wine de Meyney, and also a second wine named "Prieur du Château Meyney". Château Meyney is a classic, high-quality AOC St Estèphe wine, and the estate produced some very fine wines during the 1960s to 1980s that could regularly rival certain classified growths of St Estèphe. Since 2014, the Château has engaged the advice of oenologist Hubert de Bouard. Meyney places itself among the leading wines of the St Estèphe appellation, with an excellent 2015 vintage that clearly signals the estate's ambitions. The estate's bottles have an ageing potential of 8 to 25 years across the finest vintages, which are 2015, 2014, 2010, 2009, 2005, 1990, 1989, 1986, 1982. It is also advisable to wait around ten years before being able to appreciate the wine at its best (it can sometimes seem a little rustic and tannic in its early years). The second wine, on the other hand, can be enjoyed more quickly. Produced primarily from the younger vines of the property, its cellar ageing time is estimated at 4 to 8 years. Meyney currently represents a reliable choice for lovers of fine wine who seek the quality of a bottle rather than the prestige of the label, and at an affordable price.
