Domaine Marcoux, located in the Rhône Valley and founded in 1975, belongs to the Armenier family. The vines have been in the family for centuries, but it was Philippe Armenier who, upon joining his father at the estate, encouraged him to create the Domaine Marcoux brand, thereby no longer selling the harvest to négociants. From the 1980s onwards, Domaine Marcoux built up a significant clientele abroad, keeping only a quarter of its production for the French market. Sophie Armenier joined her family at Domaine Marcoux in 1988 and embarked on a conversion to organic and biodynamic farming from 1991. Philippe Armenier left Domaine Marcoux at the end of the 1990s, and his two sisters (Sophie and Catherine) now manage the Marcoux estate alone, having expanded the vineyard to 21 hectares. Sophie Armenier's son joined Domaine Marcoux in 2015 and looks after the estate's vines with particular care, spread across 7 lieux-dits in Châteauneuf du Pape.

At Domaine Marcoux, grapes are harvested at full ripeness and Marcoux wines possess a rare naturalness and depth, an energy and natural power in the mouth without relying on pronounced oak. Marcoux wines can be described as classic, characterized by old ripe Grenache grapes, and suitable for aging, which will bring them flavor and balance. The Marcoux Châteauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes cuvée is a 4.5-hectare plot in the Charbonnière and Esqueirons sectors near the center of the Châteauneuf du Pape appellation, with 99% Grenache. Chiseled, pure, deep and elegant, with a finish of black cherry and cocoa, this cuvée reaches the heights of production in Châteauneuf du Pape. Apart from the Vieilles Vignes cuvée, Domaine Marcoux offers 2 other cuvées: a red Rhône and a white Rhône also in the Châteauneuf du Pape appellation. Made from 80% Grenache for the red wine and 70% Roussanne for the Marcoux Châteauneuf white, very appealing when young, with notes of yellow fruits and a generous palate. If in the early 2000s, Domaine Marcoux sometimes seemed to produce very concentrated wines, all the cuvées now find their balance. These white wines regularly rank among the finest of the Châteauneuf du Pape appellation and have gained in minerality and salinity. Domaine Marcoux also produces an excellent red Lirac as well as a red Côtes du Rhône wine and 2 Vins de Pays (red and white) called Raisin de Loup. The white Raisin de Loup is very rare, less than 1000 bottles, and made from the Clairette Rose grape (pink form of white Clairette).
