Crozes Hermitage is a designation of the Northern Rhone Valley, on the left bank of the Rhone, near that of Hermitage and Saint Joseph. Crozes Hermitage spreads over 11 villages (it's the biggest designation of the northern Rhone Valley) and produces 90% of red wines from Syrah (with up to 15% of the white Roussanne and Marsanne grapes authorised), and white wines, made from these same two grape varieties. The soils might vary, composed of sedimentary and alluvial deposits, richer than those of Hermitage and also flatter, producing a fruity red wine, with spicy and peppery aromas, drinkable in the 5/6 years after the harvest. The whites are dry, quite opulent and expressive.
Among the best producers are Alain Graillot, Laurent Combier, Dard & Ribo, Des Hauts Chassis, Jaboulet… Don’t miss our outstanding selection of Crozes Hermitage, available immediately : bottles and magnums with many rare vintages.
