Condrieu

Designation neighbouring the Cote Rotie, in northern Rhone, spread over 7 municipalities and producing exclusively white wines with Viognier, a white grape variety. The steep granite slopes dominating the Rhone on an area of 124 ha do not allow any mechanisation whilst harvesting and the yields are low, 35 hl / ha on average, which explains the high prices of these wines. They are pale yellow with golden reflections, very aromatic, with notes of vine flower, apricot, violet. Château Grillet is an enclave in the Condrieu designation, also planted exclusively in Viognier, and a single property gives its name to this designation, which covers 3.4 ha. Its wines are more mineral than Condrieu, with great freshness and good length in the mouth and a longer aging potential.
