Often mistakenly considered as the second wine of Château Rayas, Pignan is indeed a wine in its own right. Unlike its cousin which is cultivated on sandy soil, Pignan comes from terraces of rounded pebbles. This is why it is considered the most Châteauneuf-du-Pape-like expression of the Reynaud stable. This 100% Grenache traditionally exudes notes of leather, spices and red fruits but never shows any heaviness. Its sovereign balance and endless length make it one of the most sought-after red Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines. It is the ideal companion for a saddle of lamb or an eggplant gratin with bacon. A Pélardon des Cévennes or porcini mushrooms Bordelaise style are also excellent table companions.
