The Benjamin and David Duclaux estate embodies the excellence of Côte-Rôtie, one of the most prestigious appellations in the northern Rhône Valley. Located in Tupin-et-Semons, at the southern end of the appellation, this family-run estate was founded in 1928 and is now managed by the Duclaux brothers, who uphold a tradition of artisanal winemaking and a deep respect for their terroir. The vineyard, composed of steep terraces with gneiss and mica-schist soils, produces wines of great finesse, showcasing the elegance and complexity of Syrah.
The 2022 La Germine cuvée perfectly reflects the estate’s style. Made primarily from old-vine Syrah, with a touch of Viognier (less than 5%) to enhance suppleness, it undergoes gentle extractions and extended ageing in oak barrels to maintain the perfect balance of fruit, structure, and minerality. The nose reveals deep aromas of black fruits, violets, and pepper, enriched with smoky and subtly spiced notes. On the palate, the texture is silky, with beautifully integrated tannins, leading to a long finish with delicate oak nuances.
