The South West is the oldest wine region in France, long overshadowed by its Bordeaux neighbour. Yet its richness is immense: varied terroirs, original grape varieties and passionate winemakers offer wines of excellent value for money. Many South West wines share similar grape varieties with Bordeaux, such as Cabernet Franc, Merlot or Malbec, with a similar winemaking style and comparable quality, but often at more accessible prices.
