The aging potential is one of the major characteristics that distinguishes Domaine Leflaive from ordinary Burgundian producers. It varies, however, according to the appellation's rank. The Mâconnais cuvées, such as Pouilly-Fuissé, display an aging potential of 3 to 5 years and are best enjoyed in their youth for their fruity freshness. The Premiers Crus of Puligny-Montrachet, more structured, deserve greater patience. The Grands Crus such as Chevalier-Montrachet display an aging potential of 10 to 15 years, and reveal their full complexity after several years of cellaring under optimal storage conditions.
