Burgundy: The Wines of the 2014 Vintage

The best Burgundy 2014 have now arrived on the market. Their recent tastings now provide a very clear view of the profile of this beautiful vintage: "very Burgundian" and very appealing right now.

The profile of Burgundy 2014 wines

Indeed, the overall appearance of the white wines, endowed with superb depth and unfailing freshness, ensures excellent aging potential, even though the wines are already drinking well today. From the simplest Chablis to the greatest Meursault or Montrachet, international critics are full of praise for this vintage with capricious yields (sometimes more than 50% loss in Meursault following violent storms in June).

Depending on their terroir or vinification style, the reds are equally full of charm and vibrant fruit, even though some can be voluptuous and dense (Gevrey-Chambertin, Pommard, etc.), while others will be more ethereal and refreshing (Vosne Romanée, Chambolle Musigny, etc.).

Our opinion on Burgundy 2014 wines

In the opinion of all the great winemakers and all tasters, 2014 excels in its ability to express the diversity of Burgundy terroirs very well right now. Some cuvées, particularly in white, will surprise with their great aging capacity. With their more approachable and accessible profile, Burgundy 2014 will allow time for the 2013 to soften. And if 2015 promises to be an illustrious vintage (and therefore will be released at much higher prices), they are without a doubt the good deal of the moment!
