Wine 2014 Bourgogne

The 2014 vintage establishes itself in Burgundy as a very fine year, particularly brilliant in white. After a cool, wet summer, a radiant and dry September (a true Indian summer) brought the harvest to perfect ripeness, despite a violent hailstorm in June in the Côte de Beaune. The whites (Chardonnay) reach a summit: freshness, precision, minerality and superb balance, from Chablis to Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet. It is one of the great white vintages of the decade. The reds (Pinot Noir) are not to be outdone, classic, elegant and fresh, endowed with a measured structure, notably in the Côte de Nuits. The ageing potential is real, especially for whites that are ageing remarkably well. Sitting between the fresh 2013 and the sunny 2015, the 2014 is today entering its finest period.
