The Jacques Prieur estate is probably one of the greatest in Burgundy: no fewer than twenty appellations (representing 21 hectares) are grouped under this same name, and not just any appellations!
Chambertin, Chambertin Clos de Bèze, Chevalier Montrachet, Clos Vougeot, Corton-Bressandre, Corton-Charlemagne, Echezeaux, Montrachet, Musigny, Beaune Champs-Pimont, Beaune Clos de la Féguine, Beaune Grèves, Meursault (Charmes, Perrières and Santenots), Puligny Montrachet les Combettes, Volnay Champans, Volnay Clos des Santenots and Volnay Santenots. All carry the designation 1st or Grand Cru with the exception of the monopole: Meursault Clos des Mazeray.
An estate, created in 1870, mindful of the vineyard and favoring the land, which has always been careful to practice respectful viticulture, between organic and sustainable farming in order to constantly improve its cultivation and thus enhance the quality of its wines.
The result? Wines of great consistency "ample, powerful and flavorful, flagships of great modern Burgundies." (Revue des Vins de France).
To quote the Bettane & Desseauve guide: "The whites combine body and tension with a welcome silkiness, the reds offer an enveloping style with fruit that is always well-expressed."
A great estate for very great appellations!
