Domaine Jacques Prieur took its name in 1956, but had already existed since the 19th century. Following the death of the Prieur couple, their 6 children inherited the estate and decided to prevent its dispersal by placing the La Bruyère family at the head of Domaine Jacques Prieur. Located in Meursault, Domaine Prieur neighbours the estates of Coche Dury, Boisson, Pierre Morey, Comtes Lafon and Rémi Jobard. The vineyard spans 21 hectares, of which 8 are white. Domaine Jacques Prieur encompasses 8 Grand Cru appellations such as Chambertin, Clos de Vougeot, Corton Bressandes, Echezeaux, Musigny, Corton Charlemagne, Chevalier Montrachet, Montrachet, and 8 Premier Cru appellations such as Chambolle Musigny 1er cru les Charmes, Gevrey Chambertin 1er cru Combottes, Nuits Saint Georges 1er cru Boudots, Volnay 1er cru Santenots du Milieu and Meursault 1er cru Perrières, as well as Beaune 1er cru Clos de la Féguine as a monopole.

The TOP winemakers of Burgundy

The Jacques Prieur wines have been vinified by Nadine Gublin since 1990, who converted the estate to organic farming and has been experimenting with biodynamics since 2012 on the Clos du Mazeray plot in Meursault. Among these wines, the Chambertin 2014 from Jacques Prieur, with vines over 50 years old, offers a wine with a nose of blackcurrant and very precise aromas, with full, intensely ripe fruit, accompanied by a present yet velvety structure. The Clos Vougeot from Jacques Prieur includes 30% whole-cluster fermentation, lending it elegance, a floral quality and a beautiful power. The Corton Bressandes displays fine tension with a velvety texture that envelops the tannins beautifully. The Echezeaux cuvée has a silky texture with great freshness and a subtle, flavourful energy on the palate. Finally, the Musigny cuvée has subtly floral accents and a framework that combines elegance with depth. It is built for long ageing. All these wines have good ageing potential of between 10 and 20 years. On the white Grand cru side, the Chevalier Montrachet has a delicate attack before gaining density and tension. The Corton Charlemagne has a very saline and iodine-tinged palate, with a precision beautifully clothed by the vintage. It stretches its invigorating and profound substance. The Montrachet 2015 is silky, with elegance and great power in its wake. The ageing potential of the white wines will be between 10 and 15 years.
