Owned since 1924 by the Dubourdieu family, Château Doisy-Daëne is a Second Cru Classé of Sauternes and Barsac (since the 1855 classification), located 40km south-east of Bordeaux (left bank of the Garonne), next to the estates of Climens, Doisy-Dubroca and Caillou. Resting on a soil composed of a thin red sandy-clay layer over a limestone base, the 18.2 ha of vines are cultivated using integrated pest management, at a density of 7,000 vines/ha. Domaine Doisy-Daëne offers 3 white wines including a "luxury" cuvée: L'Extravagant de Doisy Daëne. The first wine, named "Fine Wine du Château Doisy Daëne", offers notes of exotic fruits, candied citrus, apricot, mango, acacia blossom and citron. Woody and spiced aromas are also found in this well-balanced, long-finishing Fine Wine. It can be cellared for 7 to 20 years or more. The second wine from the estate is the Fine Wine sec de Château Doisy-Daëne, produced under the Bordeaux Blanc appellation. It is a 100% sauvignon dry white wine with aromas of grapefruit, white peach, pear and spices, with a mineral touch. It can be kept for 4 to 8 years in the cellar. Finally, since 1990, the château has offered L'Extravagant de Doisy Daëne in half-bottles: a "haute-couture" cuvée, rated between 96 and 98/100 almost every year by Robert Parker, combining power, freshness, vibrancy, balance and delicacy with very concentrated flavours. This wine will improve in the cellar for 15 years or more as it is made from a selection of the finest grapes (in very limited quantities), aged for 10 months in barrels and 9 months in stainless steel tanks. The best Doisy Daëne vintages are: 2015, 2014, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2005, 2001, 1997, 1990, 1989 and 1988. Château Doisy-Daëne is rated 2 stars in the RVF green guide, and international critics' scores are often between 92 and 95/100. Across the estate's two Fine Wines, the quality-to-price ratio is excellent, which will lead wine enthusiasts to seek out its bottles; as for collectors, it is the estate's rare gem that will attract them: L'Extravagant de Doisy Daëne.
