The House of PHILIPPONNAT is located in Aÿ, and was founded in 1910 by two brothers, Auguste and Pierre Philipponnat. Following Auguste's death, Pierre remained alone at the head of the Champagne house and in 1935 acquired the famous 5.5 hectare Clos des Goisses plot, which is very steep (45°) and faces due south.
