Charles Heidsieck Champagne House wines: buy at the best price

Founded in 1851 and based in REIMS, the Champagne House Charles HEISIECK was acquired in 2011 (along with Piper Heidsieck) by the DESCOURS family, but with a different ambition: to "boost" this brand that had been rather associated with fine dining. The vineyard covers around sixty hectares spread between the Marne and the Aube, and Charles Heidsieck also sources grapes through purchases. The current cellar master is Cyril Brun (transferred from Veuve Clicquot), and the bet has paid off, as Charles Heidsieck fully deserves to be considered one of the most brilliant brands today.

It owes this status to the superb definition of each of its Champagne wines as well as to the smooth, melted and suave roundness so characteristic of the "Charles Heidsieck style". The style is not based on power, tension or minerality, but rather on breeding and elegance, as well as beautiful consistency. The Champagnes are Chardonnay-dominant, and the range is reliable and well-established. The Champagne Brut Réserve expresses great roundness with toasted notes, with richness on the palate and a vinous style, supported by a significant proportion of reserve wines. The Champagne Rosé is of exquisite refinement, accompanied by very fine bubbles, and a very long finish and aromatic persistence. The Blanc des Millénaires cuvée 1995 (Chardonnay only) displays a silk-like finesse, while having now shifted into a register that is both evolving and complex, whose length and aromatic subtlety remain unique. The 2004 vintage has just succeeded it. Worth noting that in 2018, Maison Charles HEIDSIECK launched a new Blancs de Blancs cuvée. All these wines make for great table Champagnes, with limited production, to the delight of enthusiasts.
