One of the most respected winemakers in the northern Rhône
Pierre Gaillard began his career as an independent winemaker in the early 1980s by purchasing the Clos de Cuminaille in the commune of Malleval. Nearly 35 years later, he now oversees 77 hectares, of which 25 are in the Rhône. The remainder is spread between Banyuls and Faugères. His white wines from the Rhône are aged for short periods of around 7 months. The range is vast. It includes Condrieu, Côtes-du-Rhône, Saint-Joseph and Vins de Pays des Collines Rhodaniennes. The aging of the reds is more ambitious and can last up to 18 months with 100% new oak. These include three Saint-Joseph, two Côte-Rôtie, one Crozes-Hermitage, one Cornas, and also Vins de Pays des Collines Rhodaniennes.
