Domaine Gramenon wines: buy at the best price

The history of Domaine Gramenon began in 1978 when Philippe and Michèle Laurent decided to purchase a building and its 12 ha of vines, in Montbrison sur Lez, near Montélimar in the Drôme, at the heart of the Rhône Valley. Domaine Gramenon now has 26 ha of vineyard. While many here deliver their grapes to the cooperative, the vines of Domaine Gramenon have been cultivated in a natural and organic manner from the very beginning, and the entire vineyard is today certified in Organic Agriculture and Demeter, owing to their strong commitment to biodynamic practices.

The TOP winemakers of Rhône

The Gramenon estate has made a name for itself with its authentic, characterful wines, produced on a terroir with no particular classification other than Côtes du Rhône or Vinsobres. Following the accidental death of Philippe Laurent in 1999, it was his wife Michèle who took over the production of Gramenon wines, now assisted by her son Maxime. The various cuvées of the Gramenon estate are: Gramenon Poignée de Raisins, made from young Grenache vines, to be enjoyed young. La Gramenon Sierra du Sud, composed of Syrah, is bursting with fruit and should be consumed within 5 years. The Élémentaire cuvée from Domaine Gramenon comes from 45-year-old vines and is composed of 75% Grenache and 25% Syrah. It is best decanted to remove reduction and can be enjoyed over 4 to 6 years. The Gramenon La Sagesse cuvée comes from vines over 50 years old and is 100% Grenache; with beautiful fruitiness, its concentration allows it to be cellared for up to 10 years. Gramenon La Papesse is produced on the northern slopes of the Vinsobres AOC, again from old Grenache vines, but it reaches its peak more quickly. Finally, the celebrated Gramenon La Mémé, Ceps centenaires cuvée, comes from very old Grenache vines (120 years old), and one can say that for a centenarian, it literally overflows with energy. It is very refined, complex and long on the palate. It is recommended to cellar it for around ten years in order to fully appreciate its complexity. It can age for 15 years. It is worth noting that in years deemed exceptionally high in quality, Domaine Gramenon produces a rare cuvée from 80-year-old Grenache vines, named A Pascal. In a normal year, it is blended into the La Sagesse cuvée. In summary, the wines of Domaine Gramenon are highly recommended and deserve to be discovered by all lovers of authentic, unadulterated wines.
