The Menetou-Salon appellation, located in the Cher department (Centre-Val de Loire), is an AOC recognized since 1959 for its white, red, and rosé wines. Spanning approximately 600 hectares across ten communes, including Menetou-Salon, Morogues, and Quantilly, near Bourges and southwest of Sancerre, it benefits from Kimmeridgian limestone soils, rich in fossils, and a semi-continental climate. These conditions favor Sauvignon Blanc (65% of production) and Pinot Noir. With an annual production of 26,000 to 29,000 hectoliters and yields of 65 hl/ha (whites) and 59 hl/ha (reds/rosés), Menetou-Salon captivates with its freshness and elegance, rivaling the great Loire wines. The white wines are distinguished by their freshness and aromas of citrus, white flowers, and spices, while the reds and rosés offer notes of red fruits, cherry, and a supple structure.
