The Gigondas appellation, located in the southern Rhône Valley (Vaucluse, France), is a prestigious AOC recognized since 1971 for its powerful red wines and elegant rosés. Extending over approximately 1,200 hectares around the commune of Gigondas, at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail, it benefits from varied soils (limestone, marl, alluvium) that give complexity and richness to the wines. The reds, representing 90% of production, are dominated by grenache (minimum 50%), combined with syrah and mourvèdre, with yields capped at 36 hl/ha to guarantee optimal quality. Renowned for their aromas of red fruits, spices and garrigue, Gigondas wines offer an aging potential of 10 to 20 years.
