The 1967 vintage in Burgundy was a correct but uneven year, long overshadowed between two more illustrious vintages, born of a variable season and heterogeneous ripeness. The whites (Chardonnay) often fared somewhat better, in a fresh and classical register, from Meursault to Puligny-Montrachet and Chablis. The reds (Pinot Noir), lighter and more variable, seduce with their fruit and suppleness when well-made, with successes mainly in the Côte de Nuits. The ageing potential was medium-term, and virtually all cuvées are now ready to drink, or even past their peak. Only a handful of carefully cellared reds still hold up. Situated between the great 1966 and the disastrous 1968, the 1967 remains a minor vintage, best reserved for lovers of curiosities.
